2 PETER 1:20-21
"Above all, you must realize that no prophecy in scripture ever came from the prophet's own understanding, or from human initiative. No these prophets were moved by the Holy Spirit, and they SPOKE FROM GOD!"
Humans are subject to failure, mistakes and errors. Even the prophets were subject to human error and so it is fitting that the truth of this scripture teaches us that prophets were moved by the Holy Spirit, and they spoke from God. No prophecy came from their own understanding, or human initiative, it all came from God. Therefore we know that we can rely on and trust the words spoken by God through His prophets, for they are really God's Word, spoken through the divine inspiration of the Holy Spirit.
No prophecy ever originated because some man willed it and made it happen. No prophecy came from a human impulse. As prophets spoke from God they were moved and propelled along by the Holy Spirit. What a comforting feeling to know that the infallible God could use men as His spokesperson, but the words belonged to the Lord. There are no mistakes in what God said. We can make mistakes interpreting His word and we can make mistakes translating His Word, but the prophecies of God are never wrong.
So were do you stand on the Word of God? Do you think they are the thoughts and ideas of a few men, that are subject to error? Do you think that only certain parts of the bible are trustworthy? Like Woody Allen, do you just believe in 7 out of the 10 commandments? Then it is time you realized and know that the scriptures, prophecies and commandments of God came from God and not men. The authors were move and inspired by the Holy Spirit. The are really the words SPOKEN FROM GOD!
