WAIT QUIETLY BEFORE GOD

SPSALM 62:1-2

"I wait quietly before God, for my victory comes from Him. He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress where I will never be shaken."

Remember the song, I am all shook up? Are you scared about life? Are you worried about almost everything? Do you feel like the ground under you is not safe and steady? You may be like a lot of today's people, not sure of your foundation. That is not the case of the true believer. Those that have faith and trust in the Lord are different from others. You will notice that they are more peaceful and less disturbed then others. They have a foundation that is built on the Rock of their Salvation, Jesus Christ. They know that His foundation is like the Rock that will never be shaken.

How can any one be victorious in this life? There is only one way to find salvation and eternal life and that is in Christ Jesus. No one on earth can save themselves and without the Grace of God no one will survive and have eternal life. When you know that is the truth of God, you can wait quietly and in silence for God. God is your defense and your fortress that you can be safe in. How can you be easily moved when you are protected by the Lord?

Because we have this peace that passes the understanding of the unbeliever, we have a duty to tell about the Good News that saved us. We should be eager to tell others about this peace. Of course the Holy Spirit is the one that saves the individual, but if no one tells them and they never really hear about the Salvation of our God, how can they learn? While you are waiting quietly for God, secure in your victory and salvation, invite others to come into His fortress and find peace!

LIFE!

GALATIANS 3:11-12

"It is through faith that a righteous person has LIFE. This way of faith is very different from the way of the law, which says it is through obeying the law that a person has life."

Do you really think that you could go throughout your life without breaking the law? Not just mans law, but God's law can not be broken if you hope to obtain eternal life. Again, do you think that anyone is capable of going through their whole life without breaking the law? Remember God has said that no one is good, no not one. That would include everyone who has ever lived. Everyone has come short of the glory or goodness of God. That is why Jesus asked why they called Him good. Jesus knew that only God is good and by calling Him good they were calling Him God. Do you think you can be good, like God?

It is absolutely clear that no human can gain eternal life by being good. If we can not gain eternal life by being good, then how can we obtain Heaven and eternal life with the Lord? The truth for today is that we can only obtain life when we live by faith. We were under a curse and doomed for destruction when we live under the law. Everyone who does not live under the commands written in the law is subject to eternal punishment. We can not depend on the law to save us.

The man in right standing with God who is just and righteous shall live by and out of his faith. The one who is declared righteous by faith shall have right standing with God and will have LIFE! How does this happen? We were cursed and could not save ourselves, so how can we be given eternal life? Jesus took all of our curses upon Himself and gave His life for our deaths. Now that is some Good News! We could not save our self but Jesus Saved us by His gift of the death on the cross and His shed blood for us. All we need to do is believe in Jesus Christ and demonstrate that belief by our faith in Him and His Word. Choose LIFE!

THE SUM OF THE LAW

GALATIANS 5:14

"For the whole law can be summed up in this one command: love your neighbor as yourself."

Why did God give us the 10 commandments? Why did God give us the Word and all the instruction found therein? The bible is the owners manual for the believer and as such it is the most complete book ever written. It is thorough and complete and perfect without error. Yet we can ask a question about the truth for today. Is it possible to sum up the concepts of the bible in one command? The answer is yes.

The whole law concerning human relationships is found in this one command of God. All the law is fulfilled in this one command. You can comply with the precepts of God if you fulfill this one command. LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF! Another way to say this is that you are to treat everyone else the way you want to be treated. You must give to anyone else the same care and concern that you desire. You can not treat others in any other way then you want to be treated. That really does sum up the whole goal of any life.

Do you treat your parents the way you want to be treated? Do you treat your children the way you want to be treated? Do you treat your brothers and sisters the way you want to be treated?
Do you treat your next door neighbors the way you want to be treated? Do you treat people of other races, sexes, religions and appearance the way you want to be treated? Do you treat your enemies the way you want to be treated? Do you love your neighbor as you do yourself? Are you obeying God's command?

PERFECT PEACE

ISAIAH 26:3

"You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you."

Is your life a little crazy at times? Do you feel like you are running all the time and getting no where? Is there a lot of anger, hatred, cursing or mean behavior in your life? Do you find that there is no peace for you? Then today's truth is just the right Word that you need to hear and then put into action. It is possible to have not only peace at some times but peace almost all the time. It is possible in this evil and hectic world to have perfect peace. Perhaps you know some one that has that peace, what is their secret?

There is only one way to have perfect peace and that is to have the only thing that is perfect in your life, God! Without God, there is no peace. Man is incapable of giving or obtaining peace apart from the Lord. Implied in this relationship of you with God is complete trust. Do you trust God to keep you in peace? Their is peace on earth to men in God's will. Are you seeking and finding God's will in your life? You must be steadfast of mind.

Trust the Lord. Commit yourself to Him. Let God be the rock you lean on. You can have hope and confidence if your foundation is the Word of the Lord. He is the rock of the ages and one that is everlasting. That means that if you rely on Him you will have everlasting peace and your trust will be returned to you. Do you fix your thoughts on Jesus Christ? He is PERFECT PEACE!

ARE YOU COMMITTED?

PROVERBS 23:12

"Commit yourself to instruction; listen carefully to the words of knowledge."

Tell the truth, how much time do you spend learning the bible? OK so the pastor's all acknowledge that they spend a great deal of time learning the words of knowledge and getting instruction from the Lord. How about those of us who have not been called to be a teacher? How much time do you spend getting instruction and listening to the words of knowledge? We are now addressing the average believer, the one who will have questions asked by their peers about Jesus Christ and His Word. Are you committed to instruction for yourself. Do you listen carefully to the Word and are you acquiring the Lord's knowledge?

Is the bible in your home just a dust collector? Do you read the Word every day and try to learn more and more about God? Many read the bible through each year and that is commendable. Do you also commit to instruction from the Word and do you carefully listen to the Words of knowledge? It is one thing to read a book and another to learn from a book and take instruction. Are you a hearer of the Word or are you a doer of the Word? Is it truth and life to you when you read the Word of God?

It should be the desire of anyone who has given their life to Christ to also learn His Word. The bible is the instruction manual that was give to us for our edification. Should we fail to read the instructions before doing such a complex thing as living our life? We should be commit ed to the bible and learn from it on a daily basis. Are you attending class? Are you learning? You will be tested every day and in many ways. ARE YOU COMMITTED?
