1 JOHN 2:1-2
"I am writing this so you will not sin. But, if anyone does sin, we have an ADVOCATE who pleads our case before the Father. He is Jesus Christ, the one who is truly righteous."
Have you ever wondered what it will be like on the day of judgement? What will the great white throne room with all of its stature and pomp and circumstance be like? The Father will be sitting in judgement and will be about to hear your case. You know that you have sinned and come short of the Glory of God. You are guilty of numerous breaches of God's laws and commandments. You deserve to be punished and sentenced for the wrongs that you have committed. If we ever need help, it is right then! If you ever need Jesus, it will be right now!
What if the court appointed an attorney to you because you could not pay the price? What if the attorney was just as guilty as you are and the Father knew it. Who could really help you then? Thank God, we have an advocate, or helper, who will plead our case before the Father and this advocate is truly righteous! Jesus Christ is the only one who could present and win our case. Jesus knows the hardship, and sympathizes with all who have been afflicted in this earthly life. In our time of trial He will give suitable direction and support and He will achieve a just outcome with full mercy and forgiveness.
Jesus, as the only righteous one, has been the sacrifice that atones for our sins. He is the sacrifice for the sins of the whole world, to those that have come to know and believe in Him. So even though we have violated God's laws and have repeatedly sinned, we have an advocate that will intercede on our behalf and He is the only one who could bring mercy and justice. Because Jesus conforms to God's will in every way, He is the only one who could present our case. We need to thank God that at the time of our judgement, JESUS IS MY ADVOCATE!
