TURN AWAY FROM EVIL!

2 TIMOTHY 2: 19

"God's Truth stands firm, like a foundation stone, with this inscription:

The Lord knows who are His, and all who belong to the Lord must

TURN AWAY FROM EVIL!"

Does the Lord know you are His? Do you belong to the Lord? Do you have the Lord's seal upon you? There is a sure way to know the answers to these questions. The One Truth Today tells us that all who belong to the Lord TURN AWAY FROM EVIL! It is such a firm statement that the Lord says if you belong to Him you MUST TURN AWAY FROM EVIL! When you gave your life and heart to the Lord did you stop your adulterous ways? If you were in bondage to alcohol or drugs, have you stopped using them? If you were involved in pornography and R rated materials have you stopped your addiction? If you had an evil heart and mind has it been cleansed by God and do you have a new heart? Are you seeking the paths of righteousness and have you turned around from the paths that lead to death and damnation? If you can answer in the affirmative, then God knows who you are. If the answers are no, then Lord does not know you!

All believer's know the 10 Commandments and the Word of God. They have learned from the Prophets and the Lord's example. They have not just heard the Word, but they have become doers of the Word. Because they have been Saved from their sin, they MUST TURN AWAY FROM EVIL. Their new heart leads them away from evil and toward God. When you came to the Lord Jesus Christ, did you change? Do you really believe that you can say you are following God and then not TURN AWAY FROM EVIL? God's truths are as firm as a foundation rock that you can stand on. If you look, you will see an inscription on the stone: The Lord knows who are His , and all who belong to the Lord , MUST TURN AWAY FROM EVIL!

Can you see the Truth and can you hear the voice of the Lord? Have you given up your evil and wicked ways? Do others see you as a new person? Have you remained faithful to the Lord and to His Word over many years? Did you turn your back on the old evil life and have you stopped repeating the sins of your past? Did you TURN AWAY FROM EVIL, and have you fled from its hold on you. If you have not done this, then you must take a second look at your life and determine if you are a child of God. Talking is not sufficient, hearing is not sufficient, only doing the Word of God will satisfy the Lord! Let your Yes be Yes and your No be No! You can not fool God and therefore it does no good to fool yourself. The Lord knows if you are His!

All who belong to the Lord MUST TURN AWAY FROM EVIL!

THE PLAIN TRUTH!

2 TIMOTHY 1: 10

"Now God has made everything PLAIN to us by the appearing of Jesus Christ our Saviour, who abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the Gospel."

There is so much truth in this one scripture from Timothy. Think about what our lives would be like if God had not made His Gospel and THE PLAIN TRUTH known by the appearing of Jesus Christ. Our Saviour brought us life and immortality and abolished death for those who believe on His name. If Jesus Christ had never appeared the Prophets messages would not have been fulfilled. The Word would not have become flesh and dwelt among us! We would have only mere words and stories to rely on. The plan of the old testament would never have been revealed. The new Covenant would not be possible. By the appearing, birth, life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ our Saviour, we obtained new life and immortality when He abolished death. That is THE PLAIN TRUTH!

When Jesus appeared and lived among us we benefited by the Gospels of the Disciples. The New Testament became alive. His birth was the edification and explanation of the plan of God from the beginning. It is natural for man to want physical and spiritual proof. We prefer tangible proof in order to believe. When God became flesh in the person of Jesus Christ we could see, hear, touch and feel the living God. The miracle of His birth and the miracles that He performed were know to so many because they were there. His entire life was written about and the "Good News" was given to all men throughout the ages. We can rely on THE PLAIN TRUTH even today. Praise God for the Gospel which is good news to all of us!

It was God's purpose and plan to make known to all men and fully disclose His Son Jesus Christ. When Jesus appeared He abolished death and gave to those who believe in Him immortality and eternal life. Death no longer has a sting for us and the grave has no victory over us. The resurrection of Jesus Christ lead the way for all men's souls to live eternally in Heaven with Him. What a wonderful plan God had for us from the beginning. It was cryptic and not easily discerned in the Old Testament, but Jesus Christ is the New Testament and it is in this way that God told us THE PLAIN TRUTH! The truth will set you free if you believe it!

TRUE GODLINESS WITH CONTENTMENT!

1 TIMOTHY 6: 6-7

"TRUE GODLINESS WITH CONTENTMENT is itself great wealth. After all we brought with us when we came into this world, and we can take nothing with us when we leave it."

No matter how much wealth you accumulate during your lifetime, you will take none of it with you when you leave. What is its real wealth or value? Are you content with what you have, or do you always want more of everything? Is winning the lottery one of your great aspirations? How much time each day is taken up trying to obtain earthly money, wealth or possessions? Are you stuck in the world's economy or are you seeking God's economy? Great wealth according to our One Truth Today is, TRUE GODLINESS WITH CONTENTMENT! If you want peace on earth with joy and contentment then you have to decide which economy you desire the most, God's or mans. Remember it will profit you nothing if you gain the whole world and all its wealth, but lose your eternal soul.

The wise man builds up his treasures in Heaven. The true and abundant and permanent wealth comes from God. TRUE GODLINESS AND CONTENTMENT come from God and are the true measure of real wealth. You will never be content until you understand that everything belongs to God and that you have no permanent possessions. After all you brought nothing with you when you were born into this world and you will take nothing with you when you leave it. Your real profit in this life will come from believing and accepting the Lord into your heart and your becoming a child of God. God spoils His children. When you seek Him and find Him you will have found your real treasure in Heaven. Unlike the wealth of this world which disappears and is gone in time, the Lords treasures are eternal. If the Lord is your Shepard, you will have everything that you need!

At birth you had only your eternal soul and spirit and your earthly body. Your body like all things of this world will pass away. Your spirit and soul will live for eternity. You will spend eternity in one of two locations. You make the choice that determines where you will spend eternity. You believe and accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour, or you reject or ignore Him. You can accept the free gift of eternal life or you can reject the Lord and be separated from Him for eternity. Nothing physical or tangible will leave this earth and in the end it will all burn. Your soul and spirit are another matter. To be absent from your body is to be present with the Lord if you are a child of God. You can have TRUE GODLINESS WITH CONTENTMENT, which is in and of itself great wealth, or you can rely on the things of this world. Pray that the Lord will Save you and have mercy on you today, that is great wealth!

SOME SINS AND GOOD DEEDS ARE NOT OBVIOUS!

1 TIMOTHY 5: 24-25

"Remember, the sins of some people are obvious, leading them to certain judgement. There are others whose sin will not be revealed until later. In the same way, the good deeds of some people are obvious. The good deeds done in secret will someday come to light!"

The sins of some people are obvious to everyone, Tiger Woods comes to mind. These sins will lead them to certain judgement. Unless their sin is confessed to Jesus Christ and forgiven, the consequences can be eternal. This One Truth Today tells us that some sins are known only to God, but they will be revealed later. The same principal applies, if the sin is not confessed and forgiven it will have consequences. We must be faithful to confess all of our sins to the Lord and seek His Mercy and forgiveness. Everything that we have done in the dark will be seen in His light. What we have whispered in secret will be shouted from the house tops. Only the Lord can solve this problem.

Some good deeds are obvious and conspicuous. They are known to everyone. Other good deeds are done in secret and are known only to the person doing the good deed. Your left hand may not know what your right hand is doing. No good deed can be hidden from God and they will someday come to light and their will be a reward for them. In fact this is one of the best ways to build up treasures in Heaven. The seeds that you cast out in this life time will return to you, some a hundred fold. The good deed done in the dark will be seen in the Light of the Lord!

So what is it Timothy and the Word of God are trying to teach us in this scripture? There will be no hidden sin from God. Their will be no good deed that God does not know about. If you have sinned and believe that no one will know about it, you are wrong. God knows and you had better confess the sin to Him and ask for His forgiveness and His Mercy. The Lord is faithful to forgive all of our sins if we just confess them to Him. At the time of judgement all of this will be revealed. That is why sinners need a Saviour and that if Jesus Christ the Lord God. If you have any sins that fit this description, you should confess them right now and ask for forgiveness. The Lord will acknowledge all hidden good deeds at the time of judgement and you will be rewarded by Him. Be encouraged by the One Truth Today!

SPIRITUAL TRAINING!

1 TIMOTHY 4: 8

"Physical training is good, but training for Godliness is much better, promising benefits in this life and the life to come."

Do you do a physical workout daily or on a regular basis? Are you involved in a physical training program that requires your time and effort on a regular basis? Are you attempting to keep your body youthful and attractive? In contrast, how much time do you spend training for Godliness? Physical fitness is good, but SPIRITUAL TRAINING for Godliness is much better and does more to benefit you in this life and in your life to come. Do you at least give the same effort to both physical and spiritual training? You will lose your young and beautiful body and your physical strength in the end. One thing happens to all of us, we die once and then the judgement. That is why in this One Truth Today there is a promise for those who engage in SPIRITUAL TRAINING. You will reap the benefits in this life and your life to come!

Your earthly body will benefit from physical training, but only for the short time you are here on earth. SPIRITUAL TRAINING is so much more beneficial in that helps you now during your time here on earth and it prepares you for the Heavenly Kingdom where you will spend eternity! At a certain point in your life you will be absent from your body, but as a believer you will be present with the Lord. When you consider the end result there is no comparison to the effort given for physical training and SPIRITUAL TRAINING. Where do you think it is more profitable to spend your time and energy? We are not suggesting that you let your body go or your health. Physical training is good, Godly training is better and more profitable to you!

Reading and studying the Word of God and then putting into action the scriptures in your life is a way to train for Godliness. Attending Church on a regular basis and joining with other believer's in worshiping God is a great way to train for Godliness. Daily reading of the Word in private and in prayer is a way to train for Godliness. Listening to Sermons and digesting the messages is a way to train for Godliness. Learning about the Laws of God, and His Prophets is a way to understand God's will for your life. Our daily bread should be the Word of God. If you want to nourish and feed your spiritual body feed it with the Word. The more we eat, the more we grow and the more spiritual we become. How is your health, your spiritual health that is?

So we must spend each of our days in ways that will lead to the best reward for life. The best answer is to increase your SPIRITUAL TRAINING!

LOVE YOUR ENEMIES!

PROVERBS 25: 21-22

"If your enemies are hungary, give them food to eat. If they are thirsty, give them water to drink. You will heap burning coals of shame on their heads, and the Lord will reward you."

Do you have any enemies? Who are they? Is there someone who is threatening your country, or your family or your religious beliefs? The One Truth Today and the Word of God tells you what to do. The fleshly side of your nature will tell you to seek revenge and plot to hurt your enemies. Jesus Christ tells us about quite a different path to take, the right path. LOVE YOUR ENEMIES! Mankind has been using the tit for tat response since the beginning of time and it has gotten them no where. Insanity is defined as doing the same thing, over and over again, and expecting a new and different result. A fleshly response to those you consider your enemy will only inflame and continue the struggle. A Godly response will bring shame to your enemies and they will reconsider their position towards you. The Lord will reward you if you love your enemy!

Jesus Christ expects you to LOVE YOUR ENEMIES, and to bless them that curse you and to do good to those that hate you. We are to pray for our enemies and those that despitefully use us and persecute us. The Lord wants us to over come evil with Good. The Proverb is specific and easy to understand and do. If your enemy is hungry, give him food to eat. If you enemy is thirsty, give him water to drink. Return good for evil and you will heap burning coals of shame on those that hate you. You will be rewarded by the Lord because your enemy will find it impossible to hate someone that loves them and supplies their needs. Your goodness, kindness and support will have an effect that will change your enemies thinking about you. Think of how you would react in the same circumstances. LOVE YOUR ENEMY!

The best way to understand the Lord and His Word is to put this Proverb to the test! Let us see if the Lord will reward those who are doer's of the Word and not just hearer's. Think of someone that you have a strained relationship with or you in fact hate. It could even be a parent or a sibling or a family member or friend. Now apply the Proverb. Give them something that you know that they need. Love them instead of hating them. Extend yourself to them and offer friendship instead of hatred. Demonstrate your love toward them in specific ways that they can understand. A card, a letter or note, an invitation to a meal together or a gift can be a start in the right direction. Forgive them for what they have done and then forget what they have done. Overcome the evil in your past relationship with Good and with God. Pray for them, and for your future relationship. The Lord will reward you and bring a heap of burning coals of shame on them if they fail to respond. Try it, LOVE YOUR ENEMY!

THERE IS ONLY ONE GOD, JESUS CHRIST!

TIMOTHY 2: 5

"THERE IS ONLY ONE GOD and mediator who can reconcile God and humanity, the man JESUS CHRIST!

When Jesus Christ was called good, He responded by saying; "why do you call me good, there is only one that is good and that is God". Jesus Christ, the man, was telling the world that He alone was the mediator who could reconcile both man and God. Jesus Christ was telling us plainly that there is only one God and that He indeed was God. Some things are impossible for man to grasp and to understand completely. We do not have the mind of God and His ways are not our ways! The Man Jesus Christ, The Holy Spirit and our Father God are understood in three parts but THERE IS ONLY ONE GOD! The Spirit became flesh and dwelt among us! Jesus Christ wants us to recognize, discern and perceive the divine truth, that He is God and there is only one God. That is why He is the mediator who can reconcile between God and humanity. In fact He is the only one who can mediate between God and man. That is our One Truth Today!

Throughout history men have worshiped the sun, moon, stars and heavenly bodies. Men have worshiped idols of stone, clay, wood and metals. Men have worshiped monkeys, cows and all kinds of animals and their symbols. They have worshiped men who are all now dead and forgotten and obviously not God. It would appear there is no limit to what people can worship. The problem is that if you worship any other one than Jesus Christ the Lord God who came in the form or a man, you are mistaken, at your peril. THERE IS ONLY ONE GOD, JESUS CHRIST!

The Word is clear in this scripture and in many others that explain in part the mystery of the Lord Jesus Christ. The Word confirms that Jesus Christ is our Saviour, our Lord and our God!

Only Jesus Christ can offer intercessory prayers and petitions on behalf of all righteous and obedient Christians. That is why there should be no one between you and your God. It is also true that Jesus Christ is the only one who can save you. God is not interested in your race, sex, country or family, or your position in this life. You can speak directly to Him and He will hear you and answer your prayers. There are many little gods that have lead many astray from the truth and the Word of God. They have taken a path that leads to death and damnation and are separated from God forever. Do not be fooled or misled, THERE IS ONLY ONE GOD, JESUS CHRIST!
