"Remember, the sins of some people are obvious, leading them to certain judgement. There are others whose sin will not be revealed until later. In the same way, the good deeds of some people are obvious. The good deeds done in secret will someday come to light."
The sins that some people commit are obvious to everyone. This One Truth Today tells us that the sin will lead to certain judgement. Unless that sin is confessed to Jesus Christ and they are forgiven the consequences are eternal. This scripture also tells us of secret sins that are only known to God. They will be revealed later, but the same principal applies, if they are not confessed and forgiven they will have consequences. We must remember to be faithful to confess all our sins to the Lord and seek His mercy and forgiveness. Everything that we have done in the dark will be seen in His light. What we have whispered to others will be shouted from the house tops. Have you prepared to meet the Lord?
Some good deeds we have done are obvious and conspicuous. They can not be concealed and are known to others. Other good deeds are done in secret and are known only to ourselves. Your left hand may not know what the right hand has done. No good deed can be hidden from God and they will be rewarded later at the time of judgement. That is how we can build up treasures in heaven. They may have been done in a void but they will return to you. The good deeds done in secret will come to light.
So what is it that we are to learn from Timothy and the Lord? There will be no hidden sin and all sins must be confessed to God in order to be forgiven. The Lord is faithful to forgive us of all of our sins if we beg for His mercy and confess. At the time of judgement all sins will be revealed and we have all sinned and all need a Saviour. Confess right now to the Lord of all your sins. In the same way all good deeds are known and will come to light at the time of judgement, even those done in secret. The Lord will acknowledge what we have done for others. He will show us all the treasures that we have built up in Heaven in response to our good deeds. That is the encouragement that the Word gives us today!
