LOVE YOUR ENEMIES!

PROVERBS 25: 21-22

"If your enemies are hungry, give them food to eat.  If they are thirsty, give them water to drink.  You will heap burning coals of shame on their heads, and the Lord will reward you."

Who is your enemy?  Is anyone threatening you or your family, country or religion?  What should you do?  The man of flesh wants to have revenge and hurt his enemies.  Jesus Christ tells us that the right answer is to LOVE YOUR ENEMIES!  Mankind has been using the tit for tat response since time began and where has it gotten anyone?  Insanity can be defined as doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.  If you are acting in the flesh toward your enemies then you will get the same result and you could be considered insane.  The solution to the problem is to use God's Word and God's ways and LOVE YOUR ENEMY!

Jesus expects us to love our enemies and to bless them that curse us and do good to them that hate us.  We are to pray for our enemies and those that despitefully use us and persecute us.  The Lord wants us to overcome evil with good.  This proverb is specific, if your enemy is hungry then feed him and if he is thirsty then give him a drink of water.  The Lord will reward you and your enemy will have burning coals of shame on their heads.  The idea is that it is difficult or impossible to hate someone that loves you and supplies your needs.  If you support and and show goodness and kindness to your enemy it will have an affect and they will change their position about you.  How would you react in the same circumstances?

Lets put this One Truth Today to the test.  Let  us see if the Lord will reward those who do His Word and not just hear His Word.  Think of someone that you think of as an enemy or someone who thinks of you as an enemy.  Now apply the proverb.  Give them something that you know they need.  Love them instead of hating them.  If you are having a problem with your mother or father, brother or sister start there.  Demonstrate your love to them rather than what you have been doing.  Overcome the evil in the relationship by providing the good.  If you believe Christ you do not have another option.  Do not keep doing the insane things of the past
