PROVERBS 19:11
"Sensible people control their temper; they earn respect by overlooking wrongs."
Do you have a temper? Do you ever get loud and argue with others? Have you ever said some things that you regret and wish you could take back? If you say no, perhaps we should discuss the sin of lying. In fact when we think we have been or are being wronged by others we have a tendency to become defensive and to strike out in anger. We need to know that a man's wisdom gives him patience, and it is to his glory that he overlooks any offense by others!
We should learn discretion and become slow to anger toward anyone. If you overlook the transgressions of others it will be to your glory and it will save you embarrassment and the need to apologize for your actions. It is good sense that makes a man restrain his anger and it pleases God when we overlook the transgressions and offenses of others. Can you become sensible and learn to control your temper? If you do, you will earn the respect of others and God.
Now the important aspect of the truth for today is that you take this advice and put it into work in your life today. You control your thoughts and actions and only you can be wise enough to understand and then put into action this Godly advice. The next time you feel yourself about to go off on some one else with anger, stop and control it this one time. Then when you see the wisdom of overlooking their offense and the peace that it assures you will want to repeat the experience. A soft answer will turn away wrath, the angry answer leads to unhappiness. CONTROL YOUR TEMPER!
