COLOSSIANS 3:2-3
"Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth. For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God."
What is more important to you, this life on earth or your eternal life in the kingdom of heaven? As a christian, where will you spend eternity? Are you looking up and with anticipation awaiting your redemption? One way to determine your attitude is how much time you spend trying to accumulate worldly possessions and build up treasures here on earth. Remember, you came into this life with nothing and you will leave it with nothing. Everything you possess will go to others, you can not keep anything. The good news is we will share in all God's glory in heaven!
Your affections should be set on the things above and the kingdom of Heaven. You are just passing through this earth and you need to keep your mind on higher things. As far as the world is concerned, you are dead in your sins and your only life is a spiritual one hidden with Christ in God.
Whenever tragic things happen here on earth, someone asks why would a good God allow bad things to happen. Why do babies die, airplanes crash, earthquakes happen, or any or your personal tragedies. The right answer is that many do not have their sights set in the right direction. Look vertically and not horizontally. Do not focus on this earth or anything in it. Look up, for your real and eternal life is in heaven and is hidden in Christ with God. You will be saved and you will spend eternity in Heaven, and in perfection. No illness, death, or crying will occur.
