"If any of you want to be my follower, you must turn from your selfish ways,
take up your cross daily, and FOLLOW ME!"
When you surrender your heart to Jesus Christ the Lord God, and decide to follow Him, what does He expect from you? You have a new heart and a new mind and you will have a new life, filled with the Holy Spirit, so what is expected of you? All believer's who love the Lord know from our One Truth Today that they must turn from their selfish ways! It is no longer about you, it is about Jesus Christ the Lord God! You have repented of your sins and you are on a new path that is made straight to the Lord. We have turned around from our carnal ways and we hear the Lord saying, FOLLOW ME. We must take up our cross daily, as we become more and more like our Lord Jesus Christ.
Just as Jesus Christ had to take up His Cross and suffer, you are expected to do the same thing.
In fact it is on a daily basis as we pass through this world on our way to the Kingdom of God that the Lord says, FOLLOW ME! Every day we are to be more like Him. We are to walk in the footsteps of our Lord. Jesus laid His life down for us and we are to lay down our lives for others, there is no greater love! Can you hear Him, are you listening, are you sacrificing yourself for others today. Are you willing to give up yourself in order to see the Lord increase?
When the Lord calls you to do something can you hear Him saying FOLLOW ME?
Jesus told us that if we wanted to follow Him we would have to deny our self and lose sight of our own interests. We are selfish by nature and it is only with the guidance and assistance of the Holy Spirit that we are able to turn from our selfish ways. We are to hold steadfastly to His example and take up our own cross on a daily basis. We are to lose sight of ourselves as we see more of Him. Ask yourself this question, am I living in a way that pleases God? Would it be possible for everyone to see the path I am on and the Way I am following? Do you deny yourself, do you avoid being selfish, do you take up your cross daily? Jesus is calling everyone.
