"FAITH is confidence that what we hope for will actually happen. FAITH gives us assurance about the things we can not see."
There is something that transcends our five senses. If you can not see, hear, touch, smell or taste something, that does not mean that it does not exist. We are talking about Spiritual things that may be impossible to analyze with your senses. Love and faith and God all fall into that area of life. Before Jesus Christ the Messiah was born, all His believer's had to have faith that the plan of God would actually happen. Until the Lord was born into this world in the flesh they could not use their senses to know God, but they still had FAITH in the Lord! For one generation, people were able to see, hear, touch, smell and taste the sweetness of the Lord. Since His death and resurrection people have not had the ability to experience the Lord in the flesh, but they now have FAITH in His triumphant return. The definition of FAITH is believing and perceiving as a real fact that which you can not confirm with your senses. Do you have FAITH?
Do you have confidence that as a child of God you have an eternal future in Heaven with the Lord? Do you hold the deed to your heavenly mansion even though you have not taken possession? Do you Trust the Word of God and have assurance and confidence that what He has promised, He will deliver? To some, heaven is pie in the sky, and they do not believe the promises of God or have FAITH in His Word. They can not grasp the substance of things hoped for and without the evidence of the senses they are incapable of believing. FAITH is why we can be confident that what we hope for will actually happen. We have assurance and know that even though we can not see it now, it will happen just as the Word of God tells us.
Based on your experience do you believe that the sun will rise each morning? That future action is not based on your senses, but is based on belief or faith. You have confidence and hope that the future will replicate the past. Is this blind faith? What kind of FAITH does it take to know that the Word of God has been sure in the past and therefore it will be sure in the future? With the Peace and Assurance of the Word of God we can believe what we can not see and we can be sure that His promises will actually happen. We may not see it now, but we know in our hearts that we will see it in our eternal future. That is how we DEFINE FAITH!
