UNBELIEF!

MATTHEW 13: 57-58

"A prophet is honored everywhere except in his own hometown and among his own family. So Jesus did only a few miracles there because of their UNBELIEF!"

What effect would unbelief have on a miracle in your life? According to the One Truth Today it would have an immediate and dramatic effect. Sometimes we fail to give respect and honor to those who are close to us. How do you treat those who pray for you? Do you treat your family and Church members any differently than those that come from outside your circle? Here the prophet is honored everywhere except in his own hometown and among his own family. The cause of the limited miracles is their unbelief. If you do not give honor and respect to the Lord Jesus Christ then your choice is a limiting factor in what He can do for you. They say familiarity breeds contempt and that in turn leads to unbelief. If you question the power and ability of the one that could perform a miracle for you it may be because of your UNBELIEF!

Those in Jesus hometown knew He was the carpenters son and they knew His father and mother and His sisters and brothers. Due to their familiarity they had a different feeling about the Lord and His abilities. They knew that He had performed miracles but because of their unbelief they limited what the Lord was capable of doing for them. They made a choice of what to believe and what to expect and that limited the miracles in their hometown and in His own family. How do you see the Lord, are there any limits on His power or ability to perform miracles?

What we need to learn from the scripture today is that we can limit the power and praying ability of those closest to us if we diminish them in our sight and lack sufficient belief in their being an instrument of the power of God. If a Pastor, prophet, or Sheppard is raised up among you then you need to honor and respect them. We must not ridicule or scoff at their ability, just because we are very familiar with them. It is not up to us to question God or His methods. We must try and avoid the same mistake as those of the Lord's home town, UNBELIEF! Do not miss a miracle in your life or the life of someone you love because you limited the power of God!
