HEBREWS 3:19
"So you see that because of their unbelief they were not able to enter His rest."
Why do so many gravestones have the inscription, "rest in peace"? Here on earth many look for peace but find there is no peace. When the Israelites hardened their hearts and refused to listen to God's voice, what was the result of their rebellion. God has taken an oath that people who disobey Him will never enter His rest. If you disobey God's commandments, you will suffer! Here Paul's advice to Christians' is to be careful that your own hearts are not evil and unbelieving, causing you to turn from the living God. We should not be deceived by sin and hardened against God. If we are faithful to the end, trusting God as firmly as when we first believed, we will share all that belongs to Christ and enter into His rest and peace.
If you have never listened to His Word, and have refused to be persuaded, what do you think will be your inevitable consequence. Peace on earth is for men in God's will! By provoking and grieving God you will have chosen your own fate. You will not enter God's rest if you are tricked by deceitfulness and sin and allow your heart to be hardened.
If you want to REST IN PEACE, listen to the voice of God and believe His message for your life. You must accept the good news and the free gift of life from the Lord Jesus Christ. The consequence of your unbelief will be that you have no peace on earth and you will not enter His rest for eternity. The choice is every persons. Are you at peace?
